It was 1961.  Some philanthropists of Halisahar Purbachal area united with a noble mission to eradicate illiteracy, uplift the educational condition of the locality and enhance the economically backward class. The man who pioneered the thought was Shri Amar Chandra Ghosh, a revolutionary freedom fighter, a social worker and an  engineer by profession.  Purbachal Trustee Board, Halisahar Saraswati Club and local personnel interested in education and well-wishers extended their helping hand to achieve the goal. Finally, on 2nd January, 1963 their dream came true. A new history was scripted in the scrapbook  of a five hundred years old township. Halisahar Rabindra Vidyamandir came into existence.

      During its take off period, the school had to overcome various constraints. Establishment of building, rendering  infrastructural facilities to the students, creating and restoring student friendly academic atmosphere , imparting quality education to the students were our primary foci. With enormous zeal and strong determination, we transcended all barriers.

         From the last decade and in the running years, our school has witnessed an all round development. Our school was enhanced to the higher secondary level in 2013 and student’s achievement in term of Higher Secondary Result is excellent. We have well- equipped laboratories (Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Geography) a well-organized library with quality books, an auditorium, a playground of our own.

               Computer Education under CLTP scheme was introduced in 2010. A separate computer section was established. Students from class V to Class X are regularly being taught with computer courses, after completion of which they have been given certificate of the respective courses.        

             Vocational Education is another field of pride. This endeavour enables the youth to be economically independent. The trades we provide are-(i) Civil Engineering and (ii) Computer Science (X+2) and (i) Health Worker and (ii) Telephone and Mobile Repairing (VIII+). All the trades are running successfully.        

               Every year we organize Health and Eye Check Up Camp for the students. They are given required medical assistance as follow up.        

                Our School performs various socio-cultural activities and social awareness camps. We undertake tree plantation programmers, anti-pollution campaigning and several other steps to build awareness. Culturally  we hold a prestigious position in our town.    

We have paved a long way. Miles to go . We dream to bring up a future world-citizen with a sound mind and a passionate soul. Not to stop, not to rest. We believe-
