History

Dr. Mahendra Nath Bose  had donated this land for this school building . Mahamohopadhyaya Haraprasad Sashtri, an archivist and historian, invited Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar to establish the school. Before the day of establishment of school , Vidyasagar came at naihati and stayed in the home of Baroda Kanta Mitra. Next day Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar had established Naihati Mahendra School on 03.01.1868. Haraprasad Sashtri took responsibility as the first secretary of the school. At first the school was started with class I to classVI. After that, a girls school was started but cannot go on. Then Naihati Mahendra Prathomik Vidyalaya and Naihati Mahendra High school became separate.

এই স্কুলটি তৈরি করার জন্য নৈহাটীর অধিবাসী ডা. মহেন্দ্র নাথ বসু স্কুলের এই জমি দান করেন ।  মহামহোপাধ্যায় হরপ্রসাদ শাস্ত্রী মহাশয় স্কুল প্রতিষ্ঠা করার জন্য পণ্ডিত ঈশ্বরচন্দ্র বিদ্যাসাগর মশাইকে আমন্ত্রণ জানান। বিদ্যাসাগর মশাই স্কুল প্রতিষ্ঠার আগেরদিন নৌকো করে নৈহাটীতে চলে আসেন এবং মাননীয় বরদাকান্ত মিত্রের বাড়িতে খাওয়া দাওয়া করেন। পরেরদিন ০৩।০১।১৮৬৮ (03.01.1868) তারিখে বিদ্যাসাগর মশাই নৈহাটী মহেন্দ্র স্কুল প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন । স্কুলের প্রথম সম্পাদক হিসেবে দায়িত্বভার গ্রহন করেন মহামহোপাধ্যায় হরপ্রসাদশাস্ত্রী মহাশয়। প্রথম অবস্থায় প্রথম শ্রেণী থেকে ষষ্ঠ শ্রেণী পর্যন্ত  স্কুলটি হয়। মাঝখানে বালিকা বিদ্যালয়  চালু হলেও পরে সেটি উঠে যায় । তারপর ধাপেধাপে নৈহাটী মহেন্দ্র প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় ও নৈহাটী মহেন্দ্র উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়  আলাদা হয়ে যায়।
