School History

Naihati is a witness of different revolutionary activities during the British imperialistic rule. AS a part of it waves came to build up the students as spines of the future independent India. A great effort was also drawn towards the spreading of education to the girl children. Many people from all the quarters came forward & among them the name of Smt. Bela Bagchi , who later became a teacher of Naihati Katyayani Girls’ High School, must be mentioned . Freedom Came in 1974 & Naihati Municipal Girls’ High School was established. It was started from 01.01.1948. Later, this school was renamed as Naihati Katyayani Girls’ High School. The name Katyayani was the name of the mother of Khagendranath Ghosh, an educationist, who dedicated a lot to build up the school. The school was unaided upto 1957. It first came under the grant in aid in 1958.

The school became a Higher Secondary school with two streams (science & humanities) in 1989.
