
In the year 1974, a few local residents formed a committe with a dream to build a school which consisted Ramen Saha, Swapan Chatterjee, Ranjit Chowdhury, Nirmal Ranjan Nath, Prof. Nilratan Mukherjee, Chinmoy Roy and Hiren Sarkar, commissioner of ward no. 7.
With the help of some donations collected from a few people and Hiren Sarkar, a piece of land was bought and registered with the name of Sarat Smriti Prathamik Vidyalaya.
The school was established in the year 1974. In the year 1976, on the birth centiniary of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, the committee decided to name the school as Sarat Smriti Prathamik Vidyalaya. At that time, Nirmala Mandal and Amal Das used to teach at the school without remuneration.
In 1986, the school got approval from Government. At that time, Nirmala Mandal and Amal Das used to teach at the school.
Local resident Swapan Chatterjee donated school bell. On several occassions like Independence Day, Birth Anniversary of Netaji, Republic Day, the commissioner used to bring sweets for the children. In 2007, the school building was renovated to a two-storied pacca building.
