History

Rahuta Free Primary School was founded in 1954. Some of the local education enthusiasts took this noble initiative of establishing a school for the purpose of providing free elementary education to local children. They were immensely inspired by the intellectual esteem of the great writer Trailokyanath Mukhopadhyay (1847-1919) who was born and raised on the very grounds of the small village of Rahuta, Shyamnagar. Honoring his legacy, the foundation day of this primary school had been determined to be on the same day as his birthday, i.e, 22nd July. Since then, it has been 66 years that Rahuta Free Primary School has been imparting foundational knowledge to local children with sincerity, diligence, and care. The school teachers and non-academic staff are all dedicated to provide quality education and pedagogical upbringing to students from Pre-Primary to class 4 (now class 5).
