History

Mathpara F. P. Girls’ School under Barrackpore Circle of Barrakpore Municipality is a renowned educational institution. With the tireless effort of Shri Prafulla Kumar Ganguly and with the aid of some local education enthusiasts, the school started its journey on 5th January, 1955. Along with Prafulla Kumar Ganguly, the people who extended their helping hands in setting up the school were Mr. Kalicharan Pandey, Mrs. Sharada Dutta,  Ram Kanai Chatterjee and Dr.  Santosh Kumar Sarkar.

The school received government accreditation in 1955. At present, the school imparts free education from Pre-primary to class V. The medium of instruction is Bengali. Along with studies, the students of this school exhibit special talent in sports and games. The school has emerged as champions for three consecutive years in the circle sports competition under Barrackpore Circle.
