History

The origin of the institution dates back to the post-independence era when the need of the education among children was more acutely felt than ever before. In 1953, at H.B.Town of Panihati region, a co-ed school started on a piece of land donated by Sri Sushil Krishna Ghosh. In 1956, a portion of the school was shifted to its present position on an occupied land with the sanction upto class VIII as a boys' school separately. In 1960, class X was sanctioned and in 1970, old XI class (Higher Secondary) started with the streams of Arts and Commerce and this continued upto 1974 till the creation of the present WBBSE. After that the H.S. section was shifted to the nearby Panihati College and this school got recognition as a Secondary (upto class X) boys' school.

In the begining, the school had tin/asbestos shade without any boundary wall, electricity, telephone and cows used to graze in front; the area remained water logged. In 1976, the school building was remodelled with the help of fund sanctioned and later with the grant of MP/MLA Lad, gradually the school got its present shape of a two-storied building with a hall, Library, Laboratory and a Computer room along with electricity, water, telephone and a boundary wall. Computer education started in 2006 and this school always carried a reputation in games and sports. In 2010, with the affiliation of WBSCVET, the school was upgraded to H.S. level in Vocational course with LAIS (Library Science), MOPR etc.
