Belgharia High School, the ultimate epitome in the sphere of imparting education in the area of Belgharia , always endeavours in its greatest mission of inspiring the educators to grow and nurture the social values like honesty, love of nation, social responsibility among themselves as well as in their manifestation of all round development par excellence. The prestigious institution dates back to one hundred and fifty years when it was established with utmost enthusiasm and visionary zeal of some local prudent educationists. The oldest educational institution bearing the glorious identity of an age-old populated city of Belgharia is no less than a foster-mother to the thousands of students well-established in their own field of work in the country and abroad. This institution has unknowingly transformed itself into a living history witnessing all the inevitable ups and downs of the time it passed through. The institution attained the honour of a High School from Calcutta University on the 1st January in 1943 by the patronage of lord Mayo, the then Governor General and Viceroy of India. In 1959, the institution got the permission of starting higher secondary education for one year in Science & Humanities group. Keeping view with the absolute changes in the educational scenario throughout the country, the institution also started Madhyamik & 2-years post-Madhyamik (Higher Secondary) Course in Science, Commerce & Arts towards the end of 1976.

The institution undoubtedly takes immense pride on providing a number of towering personalities of national repute like Sri Bomanna Biswanathan, Prof.Sri Dilip Bhattacharya, Dr. Dhurjyoti Prasad Mukhopadhaya, Vice-Chancellor Sri Smritikumar Sarkar, Dr. Krishnangshu Roy, Prof. Sri Sabyasachi Chattopadhaya, Sri Saikat Das (stood first in Madhyamik in .... ), theatrical personality Sri Biplab Bandopadhaya, and researchers of international repute like Sri Shibrata Goswami and Sri Sritosh Goswami who gained wide recognition for their individual accomplishments and contributions to their respective fields. Not to mention the least, these renowned personalities also feel same proud of being a part of this age-old institution and maintain an ever-lasting relationship with the institution in their every possible way. Through the years, the institution has been able to retain its widespread fame intact for the mutual trust, unconditional cooperation and sacrifices of the students, guardians, teachers, non-teaching staff and last but not the least, the Hon’ble Managing Committee of the institution. Beside the traditional classroom teaching-learning method, the institution shouldered the responsibility of spreading education in every nook and corner of the society by opening a wing of an adult education centre in its periphery, registered under and affiliated by West Bengal Rabindra Mukto Vidyalay Sansad years back. The institution is determined to excel in its own excellence in paving a new vista before the learners of the futurity.
