Known by the name "Uday Villa Junior Basic School" which is situated amidst the green-surroundings in the Kamarhati area, adjacent to Barrackpore Trunk Road, the institution's past story is embroidered with a fascinating history.Established by Bina Das(the polished and eminent lady who was appreciated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru for her numerous notable contributions),this school first came into existence in the year 1938 and was constructed for serving the sole purpose of providing rehabilitations for numerous refugee women at Vidya Sagar Bani Bhawan in Calcutta. However,it was not a school then but a centre known by the name "Mohila Silpasram" aimed at attaining self-independence for widows back in that time of the society where maevolent rituals, practice, beliefs and traditions had almost crumpled the status of women into the smallest of fragments and for those women for whom leading the life freely was a mere dream.Later, it was transferred to the Kamarhati Area and interestingly enough, the women who were a part of the "Mohila Shilpasram" had their children studing in the same centre and an eventual metamorphosis from a centre that tried to empower widow to a primary school look place.Ultimately in1957 in October, after achieving the affiliation from District Primary School Council(North 24 Parganas),it got its first recognition as a primary school aimed at achieving educational success that must thrive everywhere through students who originally come from poor families.
