During Freedom movement of India, Prabartak Sangha took active part and did a lot towards its aim. As an outcome of its social activity, the school, Kamarhati Prabartak Vidyapith was established in 1953, just after a few years of our Independence.
An adjacent suburban area of Kolkata near the bank of Hoogli River (The Ganga), Belghoria and nearby section up to Naihati, were congested with so many Jute Mills and others. The workers and their families from outside Bengal resided beside their work place. For the need of their children, one after another school of several categories were established.
Prabartak Vidyapith was emerged in such a situation. In its initial stage the school had its ‘evening session’ for the study of the worker class, the 68 years old school has its glorious past. Gradually the school grows confirms its affiliation and reached to the H.S. level. A number of brilliant students from this school established themselves in various fields and in home and abroad.
But in the fast changing scenario in education system our school, like other school in the area, is struggling hard to keep continuing its glory. With the scanty number of faculty and Staffa the school offers its best to the poor and needy students of the locality. Especially the Vocational Course is a boon to them. At home condition and in purely academic atmosphere the students feel free with their teachers and with each-other.
