History

Belgharia Deshapriya Vidyaniketan was set up in the year 1950 at Deshapriyanagar in Belgharia by untiring effort of some philanthropic young enthusiasts. In the fond memory of Deshapriya Jatindramohan Sengupta, our institution was then given the name of Belgharia Deshapriya Vidyaniketan. From then on, it catered the basic need of education among refugee families mainly uprooted ruthlessly from then East Pakistan. In the year 1953, it got affiliation of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and the institution emerged as a High School with classes V to X. At that time, there were two shifts. In the morning session, Belgharia Deshapriya Vidyaniketan Girls’ High School in its old form used to run and in the day shift our institution used to run independently in its own building with its separate administrative and academic structure. In the early seventies, our institution evolved as a co-educational one and in the late seventies, it also got affiliation from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education as well with its (10+2) level. From 30th September, 2013 our institution was upgraded to a Government Sponsored Institution under the jurisdiction of Kamarhati Municipality as well and it now belongs to Kamarhati New Circle as S.I. office.

Our school from its very inception firmly believes that education is vitally important to human progress. Thus we try our level best to impart life-building, man-making and character building education keeping in mind all round development of our taughts.
