বরানগর শ্রীশ্রীরামকৃষ্ণ আশ্রমের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও প্রাণপুরুষ শ্রীঠাকুর সত্যানন্দদেবের 1949 সালে এই বরানগর শাখায় শ্রীশ্রীরামকৃষ্ণ শিশু বিদ্যাপীঠ স্থাপন করেন যা 1951 সালে ষষ্ঠ শ্রেণি পর্যন্ত অনুমোদিত হয়। প্রতিষ্ঠাকালে বিদ্যাপীঠের ক্লাস হত আশ্রমগৃহে এবং আমগাছের নীচে। 1956 সালে বিদ্যাপীঠটি অষ্টম শ্রেণি পর্যন্ত অনুমোদিত হয়। 1976 সালে দশম শ্রেণি পর্যন্ত অনুমোদনের জন্য আবেদন করা হয় এবং 1979 সাল থেকে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ মধ্যশিক্ষা পর্যদের নতুন বিধান অনুযায়ী এই বিদ্যালয় মাধ্যমিক শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থার আওতায় আসে। 1986 সালে বিদ্যাপীঠটি আশ্রম প্রাঙ্গণ থেকে বর্তমান ঠিকানার বাড়িতে স্থানান্তরিত হয়। ধর্মীয় ও আধ্যাত্মিক বাতাবরণে উন্নত সমাজ ও ভবিষ্যৎ সুনাগরিক গঠনের প্রয়াসে বিদ্যাপীঠের সমস্ত শিক্ষক, শিক্ষিকামন্ডলী ও শিক্ষাকর্মীবৃন্দ প্রতিষ্ঠাকাল থেকে আজ পর্যন্ত সমানভাবে নিরলস প্রচেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছেন।

বিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্রদের জন্য আশ্রম পরিচালিত ছাত্রাবাসও রয়েছে। কলকাতার উপকন্ঠে, গঙ্গার পূর্ব তীরে, বেলুড় মঠের বিপরীত দিকে শ্রীশ্রীরামকৃষ্ণ আশ্রম পরিচালিত এই ছাত্রাবাসটির প্রতিষ্ঠাতা হলেন শ্রীশ্রী রামকৃষ্ণদেবের লীলা পার্ষদ শ্রীমৎ স্বামী অভেদানন্দ মহারাজের মন্ত্রশিষ্য এবং আমাদের আশ্রম ও বিদ্যাপীঠের সংঘপিতা শ্রীমৎ স্বামী সত্যানন্দদেব। 1947 সালে এই ছাত্রাবাসটি প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। শহরের ধোঁয়াধুলো এবং কোলাহলের বাইরে, মনোরম প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশে মন্দির ও আশ্রম সংলগ্ন এই ছাত্রাবাসে উপযুক্ত তত্ত্বাবধানে ছাত্রদের আদর্শ পঠনপাঠনের ব্যবস্থা আছে। এখানে তৃতীয় থেকে দশম শ্রেণি পর্যন্ত ছাত্ররা থেকে পড়াশোনা করে। ছাত্রদের ভর্তি নেওয়া হয় তৃতীয় থেকে অষ্টম শ্রেণি পর্যন্ত। শ্রীশ্রীরামকৃষ্ণদেব ও স্বামীজীর ভাবধারায় এবং শ্রীঠাকুর সত্যানন্দদেবের অনুপ্রেরণায় ধর্মীয় বাতাবরণে লেখাপড়ার সাথে আদর্শ চরিত্র গঠন এবং বলিষ্ঠ সমাজ গঠনের প্রয়াসে এই ছাত্রাবাস পরিচালিত।

The founder preceptor of Baranagr Sree Sree Ramkrishna Ashram, Swami Satyananda had established Baranagr Sree Sree Ramkrishna Sishu Vidyapith in 1949. The Institution grew upto class VI in 1951. At its initial Stage the classes were held inside the Ashram rooms and in the adjascent mango grove. In 1956 the Vidyapith got recognition till class VIII as a Junior High School. In 1976, the Institution applied for affiliationand in was in 1979 when it got the affiliation fro the West Bengal Board of Secondary and stared to be recognised as a high school named Baranagar Sree Sree Ramkrishna Vidyapith.

Later, in 2017 the insatitution was upgraded till class XII and began functioning under the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education as a Higher Secondary School. From the day of its inception the classes were held in the Ashram premises but in 1986 the School got shifted to its present accomodation. To build a modern society and produce ideal citizens in a religious and spiritual environment, the teaching and non teaching commmunity of the Institution has been working tirelessly from the day of its inception.

The institution provides the facility of a Boys’ Hostel, which is administered by the Ashram. The hostel, situated at the outskirts of Kolkata, on the eastern bank of the Ganges and just opposite to the Belur Mutt, was established by Swami Satyanandadev, who was the disciple of Swami Abhedananda, a direct pupil of Sree Ramakrishna Paramhansadev. This hostel was established in 1947.

The hostel, situated in the Ashram and its Temple premises, stands away from the pollution and the hustle-bustle of the city, providing an ideal environment for the academic and cultural development of its boarders. It accommodates the students from class III to class X and takes admission from class III to class VIII. This hostel is operated with the aim of instilling ideal character among the students in order to build a modern society in the line of Ramakrishna Order and the visionary zeal of Swami Vivekananda. This massive activity enjoys the privilege of having the inspiration of the founder preceptor Srimat Swami Satyanandadev.
