On 20th February, 1950, many renowned educationalists along with Smt Charushila Devi took active initiative in establishing Dum Dum Ananda Ashrama Sarada Vidyapeeth as a government-aided school in a rented house in Dum Dum. Later in the year of 1963, the then Minister-in-charge, Department of Refuge Rehabilitation, Government of India, Mr. Meherchand Khanna and Honourable Chief Minister of Govt. of West Bengal Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy both jointly took an effort to establish the new building of Ananda Ashrama Sarada Vidyapeeth on the land of Govt. in association with the financial assistance of the same in Bonhooghly. The Govt. of West Bengal has also granted money to establish a hostel for girls.
Dum Dum Ananda Ashrama Sarada Vidyapeeth for Girls’ is now a renowned multipurpose Higher Secondary Girls' School in Kolkata aided and recognized by West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and affiliated to West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE). In addition, the esteemed institution has introduced the adult school, industrial unit & vocational unit to meet the need of contemporary society. Recently, an English medium science section has been started to cater to the need of our students to become competent in global education. Statistics has been introduced as a subject from 2011 session. Our school has three different streams (namely Science, Humanities & Commerce) in the Higher Secondary General Section where about 23 different subjects are being taught by our experienced faculties. Besides the General Section, Higher Secondary Vocational Section in Home-science and Engineering streams has been introduced since 2006. Apart from these two sections, Higher Secondary English Medium Science Section has been started from 2010-2011 session.
