In the post Independence era the responsibility of spreading education among mass was majorly voluntarily owned by common citizens in whatever capacity they could ; locally , much before the Government came out with definite policies and guidilines.
one such initiative was taken by a gentleman named Jyotibhushan Ganguly who was respectfully called by people arround him"BURO MASTER" . He set up a 'PATHSHALA' that kept on providing education to children irrespective of age ,caste, religion and gender. After him , his vision was taken forward by Chandrasekhar Pathak- a freedom fighter himself and, with his patronage the erstwhile 'pathshala' gradually became a full fledged co-education school with the name DUMDUM SREEKRISHNA VIDYALAYA in the year 1967 followed by recognition from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education in the year 1970 for enrolment upto class 8 and later, in the year 1996 for enrolment upto class 10 respectively.
Since then the school has been serving the cause of education among children -majorly belonging to the first generation learners who mostly come from economically and socially backward population.
