History

They, the elite and learned persons of Ganapatipur in Basirhat Municipality then were intending a way must be found for setting a Girls’ School in that area for marginal sections of society..  Initiative came from renowned social workers Krishna Chandra Nath, Gobinda Nath, Gobinda Ghosh, advocates- Bhabatosh Mukherjee, Bansadhar Ghosh and other associate persons were Satipada Sur Roy, Sudhir Sarkar with many others. It was no doubt a hard task. But their assiduous mindsets and sacrifice forced to succeed the motto.  Krishna Chandra Nath, a kind hearted, considerable and well established person granted land in memoriam of his father Baradaprasad Nath. He also granted economic support.

         After a long interruptible situation a school was established mainly by Krishna Chandra Nath in memory of his father Baradaprasad Nath naming “BASIRHAT BARADAPRASAD VIDYAPITH FOR GIRLS” in 1973 .In the time of its establishment Smt. Manju Mandal one of the founder teachers bestowed upon her hard labour. Kalyani Dutta was selected the first Headmistress of the school to extend his painstaking duties. The school was firstly recognized as 2-class Junior High School by the Board of Secondary Education, West Bengal in 1974. In a crisis period Arun Basu, Jatindranath Das- Headmasters of “Basirhat High School “ extended their kind hands and helped for betterment of the school.  The school was further extended up to 4-class Jr. High School in 1980. The school was upgraded as X-class High School in 2005. In this period the name of the school was changed into “BASIRHAT BARADAPRASAD VIDYAPITH GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL”. Now it is a good School for the girls.    

I.C.T.@school project was launched in the school in 2017 for free computer education. The school has successfully completed its 47 years of dedicated service to the underprivileged children of mainly the backward classes of the society.
