History

Set up by the erstwhile Zamindars of Taki for providing quality education, the exact date and year of establishment of the Institution is lost in the annals of history. Records suggest that the Government took over the school in 1881 which is today recorded as the year in which the school was established.

Ever since its inception, Taki Govt. High School has provided quality education to students in and around Taki.  A significant number of students came from present day Bangladesh in what was then undivided Bengal.

Set in the sylvan surroundings of lush greenery and with the Ichhamati river flowing close by Taki  Government High School has an idyllic setting which adds to the charm of the sprawling tree covered campus. The Heritage Hall of the Institution serves as a venue for cultural programmes of the school. Stepping inside, one marvels at the architecture and gets to feel the grandeur and time- hallowed vintage of this Institution.

The Institution has gone from strength to strength over a period of time. In 1957, the Higher secondary section was introduced. In 1966, the Morning section (Class-I-V) and the Day Section (Class VI-XII) was introduced. In 1978, the Higher secondary Course (including class XII) was introduced.

For decades, the Institution has provided quality education to generations of students who are successfully established today in various corners of the world. Even today, the tradition continues and the Institution is proud of the close bond between students and the staff who are continually striving to improve the academic and co-curricular standard of the Institutie

Harvard is perhaps best-known because of its enduring history of innovation in education. But even die-hard Smart buffs are not likely to know all of these Smart firsts and historical snippets.
