History

Santoshpur is a remote village in the district of Hooghly. The village was then devoid of education. Especially the village was lagging behind of female-education. To spread the educational move of Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar, the then learned people of the locality devoted themselves to establish a Girls’ School on the land donated by Sreemat Bholanath Puri. The founder member of the school was Late Bijoy Krishna Chakraborty. The school was founded on 02.01.1973 and its was recognised as 2-class Junior High School on and from 01.01.1974. At that time the then Headmistress Mrs. Shyamali Panja (Sinha Roy) played a distinctive role in the smooth running of the school and in the recognition of 4-class Junior High School on and from 01.01.1984. To cater to the needs of the school the teachers were burdened with extra-classes. Their endless efforts forced the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education to approve the school as a Madhyamik school on 01.05.2006. Later on the school was upgraded as a Higher Secondary Unit in the year 2015. Arts and Vocational streams are being taught by the eighteen teachers.
