Remarkably it was noticed that before 1888 there existed no school at Helan and its adjacent villages as the only school was abolished due to the outbreak of malaria. The matter shocked Rai Bahadur Khiroda Prasad Pal who was a keen lover of education though he was almost illiterate. Maheswar Bhattacharya was also interested to spread education in the area. He was very close and well wisher of Rai Bahadur. Following the advice of Maheswar Bhattacharya, Khiroda Prasad Pal took initiative to start a school at Helan. However, after a long effort a Middle English School was established in 1888 at Helan with a few children. Thanks to the patronization of Rai Bahadur Khiroda Prasad Pal, the school became a dreamland to the students who entertained free education joyfully along the sincere effort of the teachers like Mihirlal Seth and Shyamaprasad Sarkar. As the time passed, more students joined the school and the success of the students was so excellent that the district magistrate of Hooghly wrote a letter to Rai Bahadur praising the success of the students and for his effort to run the school without any help from the government.
However, in 1894 the English Middle School was shifted from Helan to Sekendarpur in his own residential area to accommodate more students. Various infrastructures like hostel, playground were established. Fortunately Rai Bahadur found an ideal helpmate in Manmathanath Roy who always played a vital role to implement the colourful dream like a frontline warrior.
In 1954 the government took over the financial responsibilities giving some relief to the authority (Middle English School under Calcutta University). But in the course of time the students from the school faced a problem as it was not a high school. Again initiative were taken to upgrade to class XI ( Entrance School) in 1961 while it appeared as Madhyamik School in 1976. So many great teachers marked their footsteps in the school and the school entertained the patronage of khagendranath Bhattacharya (grandson of Maheswar Bhattacharya) and Dr Paresh Chandra Das. In the hand of late Khagendranath Bhattacharya the little plant became a tree and Dr Paresh Chandra Das made a beautiful garden with the help of the tree. NCC was introduced in 1987.Thanks to great patronization of Dr Paresh Chandra Das, the century old institution became a higher secondary school in 2002 with science and arts streams. Another feather was added to the crown of the school when girls students were allowed to study along with the boys in H.S. level after the joining of the first lady teacher in the school in 2004. In 2006 the school has been enriched with the introduction of Vocational Training Courses (V.T.C.) by which a new aspect of target can be achieved by the mediocre students.
