History

During the second half of the 19th century there was an enlightening urgeness of educationists for the purpose of spreading English education. Under this circumstance of enlightenment an institution was established in 1863 in the sacred village of Antpur within the premises of the Basus for spreading English education in rural areas neighbouring Antpur. The institution was named as 'Antpur M E School'.

Later the institution was renamed as Antpur High School. The VII th standard and VIII th standard of the institution were started in the year 1920 and 1921 respectively. However , on an auspicious day, 22nd February, in 1922 Swami Brahmanandyaji Maharaj, the first president of Ramkrishna Mission , laid the foundation stone of new (Main) building of the institution.

In 1923 the very institution got the recognition (Class-X) of 'Higher English School' from Calcutta University. Nevertheless, cordial efforts of Raibahadur Debendranath Mitra, the institution had its recognition in Science, Arts as well as Agricultural curriculum by the Board of Secondary Education in 1947 and 1958 respectively. The H.S Section couldn't be run from 1976 to 1985 for some unaccustomed circumstances. Again in 1986 the institution got the approval for the curriculum of XI and XII standards and the same has been continuing till date.

Our school has been converted from non-government aided school recognized by West Bengal Board of Secondary Education to government sponsored school recognized by West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.

In the field of sports and games Antpur High School laid its marks. It's due to the Mitras of Antpur who had their benevolence for the purpose of having a ground of the institution of its own. Not only the pupils of the school but the people of neighbouring areas also finds it as a well off ground  for practising till date in respect of personal and professional fields.
