History

In the year 1969 some people interested in education got together and took decision to set up a junior high school at Somenagar which is a remote village of Hooghly district. Some donors donated a land for the establishment of the school. Some donated cash for furniture and other requirements. Few local educated unemployed people started teaching free of cost in four rooms. After 10 years of continuous and satisfactory effort the school achieved government recognition for junior high level with five teaching and two non teaching staff. Upgradation up to Madhyamik level held in 1998 and Higher Secondary level in 2013. The school became one and only medium for the students of surrounding villages. The school never faced lack of role strength. Now the school is more or less saturated in the field of infrastructure except playground, library and well furnished laboratory with government and non-government grant. As the school is situated in socio-economically backward area and maximum students come from S.C, S.T and minority family, we cannot reach the desirable goal of educational excellence. But we always try our best with 26 teaching and three non teaching staff. Here we recently introduced ICT or computer education teaching through K-Yan projector in smart classroom. Separate toilet for boys and girls are adequate in number. Drinking water is sufficient for our pupils from underground pumps. Now the roll strength is more or less 800 even though it is decreasing with time. Our Management committee is very much energetic about the development of the school. We have just completed our year long programme for celebrating our glorious golden jubilee in 2019.
