History

It was in 1936, there was no school in the village Dilakash. Local children had to go far away I.e Guti, jangipara for getting education. Then the villagers were interested in building a school in the village.  Among then the former persons were HARIHAR PATRA, SUFAL CHANDRA PAL, LALMOHAN BASU MALLICK and JOHAR LAL BASU MALLICK. They decided that the school would be built by the side of the FORT on Harananda Saha Road Presently known as HOWRAH -UDAYNARAYANPUR road. We came to know about this from the Ex-Teacher of the School, PratapChandra Ghosh.

       A local named Kulin Manna built a house of three rooms which was build with mud walls and covered with Tin. With the help of some persons the house was sold at Rs 300 and an organised school was set up here. Joharlal Basu mallick was the first  H.T of the School .Bijay krishna Bag and kalipada Roy were A.T of the School.  Their monthly salary was Rs 3 or 4. Later three more rooms were built up inco-operation with the villagers. 

      Dilakash primary school formerly known as Girgatala primary school  got GOVT.RECOGNISED on 1st March in 1948.

  Later the school was used for higher studies.  The school taught up to class. Then the H.M of the high school was Rabindra Nath Dey. Later the High school was transferred to a new place in 1958. At present the old mud -building was broken and a new concrete building was built up there.
