History

ATRA PRIMARY SCHOOL -

An institute of our pride, emotion, vanity and love. Not only in traditional learning but also in developing discipline, punctuality, morality among its students and to reveal their special latent qualities by organising Quiz contest, Dance, Song, Recitation, Drama, Bratachari, Sports, Tending the gardens, Creating public awareness in various prevalent problems , it is really a leading institution.

But its journey was not so smooth immediately after its establishment. In January ,1970 it started its journey with the sincere help of Lt. Santosh Banerjee and Lt. Sushil Chatterjee as an organised istitution in two adjoining rooms of Atra Baroary Durgapuja Mandap and in a room of Atra Agrani Sangha. Ashit Baran Bandopadhyay, Ashim Kumar Bandopadhyay and Becharam Bhattacharjee took, the charge of teaching as three organised teacher.

In the meantime, then the S.I. of schools of Jangipara CLRC visited the school to inspect the teaching procedure. He became pleased and gave a positive report. Later, on request of the that time MLA Ganesh Hatui and MLA Ajit Basu(Singur) the school got the affiliation in Octobor ,1972 and known as ATRA PRIMARY SCHOOL. Respectable Asit Baran Bandyopadyay was nominated as Head Master of the School and hounarable Asim Kr. Bandopadhyay and Becharam Bhattacharjee here appointed as assistant teachers.

Afterwards, with the sincere aid of local Panchayet, the school was developed in a building with three rooms. The land for the establishment of the building was liberally donated by Lt. Manmatho Nath Chattopadhyay.

Many efficient teachers worked in this institutions time to time and they performed their duty sincerely. After the retirement of H.T. Madan Gopal Bhar in Feb'  2016 , Jolly Bag took the charge of school as a T.I.C. and has been working till today, with two other assistant teachers Mr. Ashis Kumar Das and Mr. Adwaita Jana. At present the teachers are working relentlessly in carrying forward the age-old tradition of the school.

Except learning the students of this Institution show their credit in sports, cultural activities etc. Every year the school arranges a "Patrika Mela". The teachers enthuse the students to keep their excellence in handicrafts, model making, dance, recitation, quiz, gymnastics etc. Beside these the school focuses on building character, feeling co-operation, forming moral values among its students.
