History

The century old Nawabpur High Madrasah (H.S.) is a glorious gem in the arena of Madrasah Education in West Bengal. This madrasah is situated in Nawabpur village of Chanditala I block under the jurisdiction of Hooghly district in the state of West Bengal. At the beginning of 20th century the great religious & social reformer of the then Eastern India Hazrat Pir Abu Bakar Siddique (R) of Furfura Sharif laid down its foundation stone in 1919 and Late Sk Ijjat Ali, Great son of Nawabpur & also a person interested in education, set up this well-known and renowned educational institution keeping in the view to enlighten the people of Nawabpur and surroundings areas with the light of education.

During the Rule of Royal British Govt. as per letter No. 4623B dt. 22/10/1918 this renowned institution was under Grant-in- Aid as Junior Madrasah from the 1st March 1925 by the Inspector of Schools, Burdwan Division of Education Dept., Bengal, vide letter No. 16598 dt. 22nd October 1925.

 After a long gap more than 40 Years this institution was upgraded as Junior High Madrasah up to Class- VIII in 1966 by West Bengal Madrasah Education Board, Govt. of W.B. In 1982 it was recognized as High Madrasah (class-IX & X) by West Bengal Madrasah Education Board, Govt. of W.B. (At present W.B. Board of Madrasah Education)

In this Madrasah VIII + level Vocational Stream with three trades, i.e. GMMFA, JWKEA & MSPRA was started from the year 2006 affiliated to the WBSCT&VE&SD.

After that in 2009 it was recognized as a Higher Secondary Madrasah (10+2) by W.B Council of Higher Secondary Education with Arts Stream (BNGA, ENGB, HIST, GEGR, EDCN, POLS, PHIL, ARBC & MATH). W.B.C.H.S.E accorded permission to open Science stream with PHYS, CHEM, BIOS & MATH from the academic session 2016-2017 and to start Health and Physical Education (HPED) subject from the academic session 2023-2024.
