History

In 1954 AD inspired by the then honorable president of Hooghly District Board, Mr.Shailadhar Ghosh, Jashapur Primary School was started on the verandah of his huge sitting room with the sincere efforts of Mr. Tarapada Koner of Jashapur village. At the beginning, an unpaid teacher named Sri Lakshmikanta Jash of Bhalia village used to run the school with twenty to twenty five students.

After receiving approval from Hooghly District Board in 1955 or 1956, two teachers sent by the Education Department, Sri Nikunja Bihari Maiti and Mahadev Sarkar joined the school. In 1960 the school was shifted to a newly constructed mud house on the bank of the village pond, Saipukur at the initiative of the villagers as there was not enough space in the sitting room due to increase the number of students.

Approval and financial assistance were received from the School Board in 1970 or 1971 for the construction of the school building. In 1972 or 1973 the school was shifted to a newly constructed pacca house on the northern side of Rane pond under Telua mouza at the southern end of Jashapur mouza. Later some more places and playground were expanded for the school. Mr.Tarapada Koner's efforts are significant in this regard.
