History

In the British Era, following Wood Despatch particularly after the Sepoy Mutinity lots of English Medium School was established in Bengal under the direct patronization of Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar.

Anur Middle English School later Christened as Anur High School was set up in 1860 under the auspices of Late Luidhar Chattopadhyay, a land lord.

          From its inception it has been taking a pioneering role in the propagation of education with so many reputed teachers like Kesab Chandra Bandopadhyay, Manik Mukhopadhyay & Hemchandra Bandopadhyay.

After attainment of independence this Middle English School was transformed into English Medium High School under the unstinted, tireless efforts & endeavour of Baishnav Charan Mondal, Satis Charan Mondal, Pashupati Bhattacharyay, Radhyashyam Chattopadhyay etc headed by eminent educationist Dr. Bimalakanta Mukhopadhyay.

          Later it was upgraded first in Arambagh sub-division Multipurpose High School.

Now Anur High School is a higher secondary school with Arts, Science stream. In 2011 West Bengal Govt. has affiliated to run Vocational Stream at class Viii.
