Bandel Mahatma Gandhi Hindi Vidyalaya (H.S.) is one of the most leading govt. sponsored institution of Bandel situated on the G.T. road which imparts education from grade 5 to 12. The school was established in 1956 and is spread over 20 cottahs land that was donated by Lt. Ganesh shaw and Lt. Ramadev sahani. The school got its first recognition of class-2 in 1960 and class-4 in 1964. The school was recognised as class 10th in 1966 by the west bengal board of secondary education as a result of the untiring efforts of the teachers and local peoples. Hindi is the medium of instructions in this school and academic session starts in January. The school is co-educational and doesn't have an attached pre-primary section.
The school has govt. building and has got 20 classrooms for instructional purposes. In addition to computer lab and vocational room the school has four other rooms for non-teaching purposes. The school has a separate room for HOI. The school has pucca boundary wall and electric connection of wbsedc.The school has boys' toilet and girls' toilet and all are functional. The source of drinking water in the school is tap water. The school has a library and there are approximate 1100 books. The school doesn't need ramp for disabled children to access class rooms. The school has a computer lab equipped with 10 computers and is operated by ICT. Recently a kitchen shed has been constructed by the BDO, Mogra where 200 students can seat and have their MDM together.
Under the able guidance and cooperation of the very first HM Shri Bhim Shankar Pandey, BMGHV flourished as an early educational institution with its moral values and social obligations. The school was affiliated to the west bengal council of higher secondary education in 1999. As a mark of respect to Mahatma Gandhi the school has published a souvenir ''JAGRITI'' in the millennium year under the editorship of Dr. R. N. Tiwary. In the leadership of Ex-HM Dr. J. N. Singh the school has achieved its culmination and hence developed a lot in terms of all respect.The school has NCC and is well maintained by the ANO D K Singh. The school also provide two vocational courses in "Electronics" and "Beauty and Wellness" to make our students cop up with the present scenario of unemployment. The present HM V. K. Prasad is striving to carry forward the legacy of BMGHV with body and mind.
