History

The premium insitution, now known to many, far and near, fondly called MAGRA PRAVABATI BALIKA VIDYALAYA, was not present way back in 1955 when it started taking baby steps with 2 girls with the help of few local people interested in education. A local Dey family named the school after Pravabati Devi. Back then, these two girl students were given a room in a boy's school for their education, the classes of which were held in the mornings. In due course, the number of students increased and in 1959, this Junior High School was recognized by the Government. In 1962, Class X was recognized  by the WBBSE too. Later, with the property donated by the Dey family, Magra Pravabati Balika Vidyalaya was set up officially. The school received H.S. recognition in the year 2000.
