In pre-independent India, around the year 1905, when national independent educational movement against the deceitful education policy of imperialist British Rule and protest movement against partition of Bengal were being taken place, inspired villagers of Belmuri , District- Hooghly founded the present Belmuri Union Institution. At first classes were taken at Shyamamoyeetala of Belmuri or at local assembly place of villagers or at somebody’s house as there was no land for the school. Founders of this honoured institution were Late Nepal Chandra Roy, Late Gopal Chandra Roy, Late Balai Roy, Late Bhupal Chandra Roy, Late Rakhal Das Mukherjee, Late Bhagabati Charan Roy, Late Atul Chandra Roy and some other well wishers. On 03.02.1907, Belmuri Union Institution came to limelight by commencing four classes. Donations from almost every corner poured in. In the year 1931, the then Headmaster Sri Satyakinkar Basu himself wrote the name of the school in front of the new pucca building. In 1939 noted patriot Sri Harendra Kumar Sarkar joined the school as a teacher who later became the HM . He participated In Quit India Movement in 1942 and was sent behind the bars. The school was upgraded to X class from 1948, just after independence, and affiliated by the Government. The school produced many successful personalities in different spheres of society. It was upgraded to Higher Secondary level from 1976. With the advent of Sarva Siksha Avijan the school developed a lot in almost all aspects – infrastructure, quality education, mid-day-meal, improvement of backward students, appointment of para teachers and so on and so forth. The school is progressing towards further betterment with the help of the Government, villagers, distinguished persons, guardians, MC members, teachers, non-teaching staffs, students.
