Gaurhari Harijan Vidyamandir Primary School (S-19) is a Hindi Medium, Govt. undertaking Institution established in 1921. Its foundation is believed to be laid by the great leader Mahatma Gandhi himself. Although meant primarily for the education and development of the socially backward class children commonly known as "Harijans”, when established, the school is open to all, irrespective of religion, caste or community. We have reasons for rejoicing and giving thanks to God for the marvels he has worked for us, and for the immense growth that has taken over the years. It is of great pride and joy that the school which was once planted as a seed in the fertile soil of West Bengal, and lovingly nurtured by the purity of Ganges and the hard work and dedication of all the teachers who have dedicated their time down the years, has now grown into a flourishing tree with immense potential for further growth. Located in the heart of Chawkbazaar, the school has spread its branches to various parts of the country in the form of their students who are its flag bearers.
