SCHOOL HISTORY
Chinsurah Rabindra Sikshayatan Girls' High School, now situated in the heart of the city was founded by Mr. Satkari Chattopadhyay on 9th Aug. 1967. But the path was not so smooth. Mr. Chattopadhyay along with some interested persons like Mr. Bibhutibhusan Dutta, Dr. Basanta Banerjee and with some girl students started the junior high school named the "Pathsala of Satkari Chattopadhyay".
After three years it got the Government affiliation. It changed its place in rented houses for teaching learning process but became unable to build a school through it bought a land from Mr. Nabadwipchandra Baral.
After twenty years the President Panchanan Chattopadhyay, Secretary Radhashyam Dutta, Headmistress, the assistant teachers and the Group-D staff tried their hardest, donated personally and collected some funds from the well-wishers and finally in 1994 became able to buy a house from Mr. Nakul Saha in Dey Para. This dream house of that time is the present school-building. Teaching-learning started in this house from 1994.
The two-storied house needed renovation and the man who came forward to help was the lover of pupils, the president of Lion’s Club, Mr. Mrinal Kanti Biswas and the contractor Mr. Shyamsundar Sarkar. In 2001 the school was upgraded to high school and grants came from the Government. Three new classrooms were constructed by the personal donation of Professor Dhirendranath Sarkhel and Smt. Chameli Sarkhel.
The dream of some people, their strenuous struggle to reach the goal and the kind extended hands of many well-wishers has given a new birth of our school. Hope, our school will always shine and spread its rays of education to the coming students in the future years.
All the beneficiary projects of today’s Government like text-book, uniform, Test paper distribution among the students run successfully in our school. The projects like Kannyashree Prakalpa, Shikhashree Prakalpa, Sabuj Sathi Prakalpa and also Midday meal project are carefully and properly carried on by the dutiful members of the school. We all are grateful to those kind well-wishers whose advice, guidance, contribution and affection made our path of struggle easy and hope their extended hands will always be a blessing to us in the future.
