From the dusty pages of History to  Modern times - An Enthralling journey of Balika Bani Mandir School.

It was the year 1927 and Hooghly district was lagging far behind when it came to imparting education to its women . Two men, could not bear this  deprivation of women, when the world beyond was progressing fast. They were Shyamlaal Sen and Manendranath Sadhu : the torchbearers of change. They challenged the age old traditions and founded this premiere institution to empower the women of this town by showing them the light of education.  On 11th September, 1927 the school started it's journey with 18 girls in the very house of its founders . A few other members who were instrumental in setting up this school were Ramendralal Sen and Deenanath Sen and their various other associates. Crossing various barriers on their way to this noble cause , staying motivated and working tirelessly towards their beautiful vision, they transformed their dream into reality.

In the year 1930, the school was shifted from College road to a larger space : the house of Sarathchandra Saha. In 1931 , the school was graced with the association of Hrishikesh Sen ; a very generous man . He donated the school 5 acres of land from his own property for the smooth functioning of the school.He also built a hall in the name of his deceased father Shyamlaal Sen.But, the efficiency of a school cannot be measured ln the basis of its property. The key to the greatness of a school lies in the performance of its students. In the year 1939 , nine girls sat to give their secondary examinations and one girl among them ( Sipra Bagchi) emerged with a first class. Owing to the suffocating patriarchal societal structure in those times, this success was like a whiff of fresh air; an astonishing development in the field of women's education. In 1947, India freed herself from the clutches of the Britsh and by that time, Bani Mandir had established itself as one of the premiere educational institutions of Hooghly District. Post independence, the school got it's recognition from Bani Mandir to "Chinsurah Balika Bani Mandir".

Keeping up with the spirit of changing times, the students have spread the name of this school across districts and states, with their dedication and merit. In the 21st century , this school believes in ensuring an all round development of its students. From giving lessons on dancing, singing and recitation to Martial arts, the institution has adopted a holistic approach towards educating  young minds. We take  immense pride in our students who have always stood apart with their skills and knowledge acquired from this institution under the guidance of their teachers and gained recognition in various competitions held within the districts or outside. They have been securing positions on the merit list of this district during secondary or higher secondary examinations. To top it all , in 2018, Balika Bani Mandir was awarded with the Best School Award in West Bengal .

The joint efforts of the teachers, students and the guardians together has helped the school to reach new heights . Staying true to its ideal , to provide knowledge and an all round development of its students, the school is marching towards it's 100 th Anniversary.
