History

“ Thee , I pray may touch my soul with the fire

             That the life becomes auspicious.

             That  the body blazes eternally  with sacrifice.”

Inspired by this perpetual urge for sacrifice and upliftment of human soul our school started its journey towards enlightment  96 years ago. It dates back to the 1920s when a  group of progressive educated persons in Chinsurah ,the District Headquarters of Hooghly , thought seriously about women education .Those visionaries imagined the future of an institution of education for girls.

To realize their dream , on 11st  September 1927, Bani Mandir started its journey only with 18 students in the rented house of Sri Haridas Gupta at college road. Without remembering  the names of Sri Ramendralal Sadhu and Late Dinanath Sen along with their associates the chronicle of Bani Mandir remains incomplete.  In 1930 the school was housed in the residence of Late Sarat Chandra Saha  at Chowmatha. In 1931 the school had the blessings  of the great philanthropist Late Rhrishikesh Sen  who donated  5 kathas of land for the school and bore the expense of a part of school. Late Munindranath Sadhu also had significant contribution to the foundation of the school. Till now the school remembers with reverence the exceptional mentality of these great men whose contribution made it possible to found a girls’ school transcending lots  of social and financial hurdles .

After 20 years of its establishment ,that is, in 1947 when we got our long desired  independence “Bani Mandir “had already become a popular girls’  school in the district . In independent India ”Bani Mandir”  got recognition as “Chinsurah Balika Bani Mandir”. Later with the upgradation of the school from Secondary to Higher Secondary level it has finally been named “Chinsurah Balika Bani Mandir(H.S).

Presently Chinsurah Balika Bani Mandir(H.S) is a glorious center of education not only in Hooghly district but it has also taken permanent position for excellent in the educational map of West Bengal. Infact , aroma of education of this institution has been spread  throughout the country and abroad as our students have secured prestigious positions as students, research scholars  and teachers  in the institution of all India repute, like IISC  ,IIT, NISER ,VJTI , IISET, IIM, JNU JU etc.
