
This school was established at Garbati, a little known village in Chandernagar, 158 years ago. The teaching learing process of this school was started, for the first time, in the house of Radhamadhab Chattopadhyay of Garbati Village. Gradually, with the increase of roll strength, the school was shifted to the rented out house of Kumar Babu of Garbati. Later, to set up the school, Haran Chandra Chattopadhyaya, an inhabitant of Lal bagan of Chandernagar, and Chandra Shekhar Bandyopadhya, a resident of Sarisha para purchased the outer portion of the homestead and some land of Kumar Babu at Rs. 655/- on 19th june, 1865, and it is the main and the most ancient part of the school.
From the starting days, the school would remain closed on Wednesday instead of Sunday, because Wednesday was the day of prayer
to the Adi Brahma Samaj. Later, when the school came under the control of the Govt, Sunday was declared as the weekly holiday.
