History

Chatra Nandalal Institution for Girls' is a Govt. sponsored school, situated at Chatra,Serampore,in the district Hooghly. The school was established in the year of 1948 immediately after Independence with the then local demand of expanding women education initiated by some local elites and got it's affiliation from Calcutta University.

Smt. Ranu Masani the first Headmistress of the school, played an important role for the development of the school and the students came from far away then, though it was a morning school on that time. In 2005,it was shifted to its own building and the roll strength is decreasing day by day. It's Madhyamik status may be a reason. However,we do really hope that the situation will be changed in future.
