History

Sixty One years back for the perpetuation of education among the girls residing in the Khatir Bazar Lane & adjoining areas, Late Sri Dhirendranath Laha,Late Sri Sital Chandra Som, Sri Ramendranath Adhya, Sri Santosh Kumar Bhattacharya, Sri Rohinikanta De,Late Sri Haribinay Bandyopadhyay , Sri Prafulla Kumar Chakraborty, Sri Shankar Prasad Chakraborty , Sri Ananda Mohan Chowdhury came together and conceptualized the setting up of Vidyamandir. In the month of April, 1959 teaching learning at Balika Vidyamandir commenced with very few students in a ground floor room of Late Sri Prafulla Kumar Chakraborty's residence. Towards the end of 1959 , daughter -in -law of Late Sri Nilmoni Tarkalankar, Late Smt Bijanbala Devi expressed her desire  to donate her two storied place of residence and adjoining plot to Mahesh Balika Vidyamandir. The School runs in the same place even today and is ever greatful to the great lady.By 1964 the school got recognition as a 4-Class Junior School. From 1st January, 1975 the school has been functioning as a Madhyamik Institution. The school now runs in two mediums : Hindi & bengali. The school is affiliated to WBSCVET and has been imparting Vocational Education in Classes XI & XII since 2007.
