History

Konnagar Rajendra Smriti Vidyalaya is one of the well-known educational institutions in Konnagar. It has endeavoured to impart quality education since its inception on 18th December,  1950. It was established by Dr. Makhan Lal Roychowdhury, Professor of Islamic History at Calcutta University and named in the memory of Rajendra Lal Roychowdhury, who was killed in the Noakhali Riots of 1946. Among the other founder members were Dr. Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Professor of Mathematics at  Calcutta University, along with nine other eminent personalities of the time. Over the past seventy years, since its humble beginnings, Konnagar Rajendra Smriti Vidyalaya has emerged as an institution with considerable esteem.
