History

Sd Anowar Chowdhury, resident of Bagmari and Ashok Nandi, resident of Patraganti thought to teach the children of Santra. Their mission was to provide students in the Treasure Vally with quality, independent education that focused on engaging and activating learning, a commitment to the environment, and dedication to the school and local communities. So they built a hut to teach the children. At first, it was not easy to get permission from the government. After a lot of hurdles, the permission of Santra Primary School was granted in the year of 1980, 14th August.

Soon after the school began, word started to spread. Villagers are requested to send their children so that they can get the light of education to brighten their future. At first, 10-12 students used to sit in a single room and listen to the teacher. Later in the year 2013 with the help of Sarva Siksha Mission Bankura a two-storied building was constructed. Now its a well set up school.

Everybody that has to be a part of the school has left a little bit of magic that has become who we are today. We are Santra Primary School a very special school.
