History

The school was set up on the land donated by the education loving people of the nearest village Damodarpur under the leadership of Rabindranath Mandal who had the lion share in donation. The strong manual support and donations in various forms from the villagers of the three villages - Bhanderberia, Kunjapur and Damodarpur - added to the smooth execution of such a great initiative in such a remote area. People of the area took the first bangla letters from the names of the three villages mentioned above and coined the term "Bhakuda" and named the institution "Bhakuda Vivekananda High School". Although the school was established in 1971, it got its first recognition as a 4-class junior high school (Class V to Class VIII) in 1980. The school came under grant- in -aid system and salary deficit scheme in the same year as per govt. rules.

In 2006, the school got its recognition as an upgraded high school (Madhyamik) with the status of co-education. In 2015, the status of the school changed from "govt.-aided" to "govt.-sponsored".
