History

There is a story of struggle behind the establishment of the present H.S girls school "Indpur Sorojini Balika Vidyalay" Educationists namely Shri Kalikrishna Roy, Shri Jitendranath Baksi, Shri Binodbehari Maji, Shri Chittaranjan Dutta and some others came forward to set up a school only for girls. Their relentless effort in this purpose proved fruitful when the foundation stone was laid in 1963. The construction of the school building was completed in the year 1964.The then B.D.O of indpur, Dr.Sisir Sur inaugurated the newly built two roomed school building in 1965. The school was named 'Sorojini Balika Vidyalaya' after the name of 'Sarojini Baksi' mother of Shri Jitendranath Baksi who donated 5 bighas of land for the building of the school. The school started with only 21 students. At the time of establishment of the school Prity Chakraborty was the Headmistress and Angur Saha and Arati Baksi were assistant teachers. It was upgraded to Madhaymik level in 1984 and H.S section was affiliated in 2006. Now the school is a big one with almost around 1400 students.
