The school was started with two class Juinior High School as Baital High School. The school was recognised as 4 class Junior High School w.e.f 01.04.1958 vide Board's memo no 2441 dt.22.09.1958. It was recognised as 10 class High school w.e.f 01.01.1967 vide Board's memo no 16598/G dt. 18.11.68. The name of the school has been changed as Baital Gopeswar Pal Vidyapith (H.S) vide Board's memo no 6642/G dt.19.08.1981 and read with case no 16144(W) in 01.03.1983. The school has upgraded to Higher secondary school in 1998 vide memo no DS(A)SD/4371/14 rECOG/98 dt. 08.12.1998.
