Glorious History of Govt. Model School Mejia

“Govt. Mode School Mejia”, a very renowned co- educational school in the district of Bankura, is situated at Jugibag, a tribal village on Mejia- Saltora Road, about 10 K.m. away from the block town. Ministry Of Human Resource Development, Govt. Of India, decided to set up some schools of good quality (School of Excellence) in the most backward area all over India for the upliftment & enlightenment of the people of those areas. In consequence of that our “Govt. Model School Mejia” put in an appearance and dedicated to the cause of the poor, down- trodden people & also to the people of the minority community of the locality. The Management responsibility has been given to the State Government.

Accordingly, the then Honb’le Education Minister, Govt. of West Bengal, Sri Partha De laid its foundation stone in 2011.The school started its journey at the office building of the Sub- Inspector of School’s at Mejia on May 6, 2013 with only 24 students of class VI and only 2 teachers – Sri Shyam Narayan Bandopadhyay , Retired Headmaster Hindu School, Kolkata as the Teacher- in- Charge and Sri Sraban Kumar Panja, Retired Teacher, Barjora  High School. When the construction of the school building was completed, the school shifted to its own building at Jugibag on January 2, 2014 and began its academic and official activities there. At this stage, the school ran with only 45 students of classes VI & VII and with 3 teachers only. The school has been given the recognition to conduct 3 classes as Junior High School ( VI- VIII) w.e.f. January 2013and it also obtained the recognition of class X High School w.e.f. 2017 by West Bengal Board Of Secondary Education.

A group of highly qualified Young teachers along with some long experienced teachers has been sincerely ceaselessly performing their noble duties. Our intention and objective is not to develop the academic side of our students only but to build their moral character, their all-round development and to make them a perfect human being.

Lastly, 100% success of our students in the Board Examination is our sole aim and our motto is to make our students fit for their struggle in life and also enable them to find a place for them in the future days.
