Situated in the village of Suknibasa of Ranibandh block of Bankura district, NIGS, Ranibandh, Suknibasa was established in the year of 2017. It is a state-governed English medium co-educational school which as the name suggests includes Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary sections.
NIGS, Suknibasa is among the 38 NIGSs in West Bengal which are built under the BRGF Scheme. BRGF scheme was inaugurated on 19th feb, 2007 by our the then honourable Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to "address the regional imbalances in development".
NIGSs are built in the economically poor and remote areas to promote education and learning among the disadvantaged sections of the society. To this end, these schools provide hostel facilities to the students and NIGS Suknibasa is not a deviant.
The school started its journey in the year 2017 with only two guest teachers appointed by the DPO of Bankura. There was only the primary section then. At the end of the tenure of the previous two guest teachers , 5 guest teachers were appointed to cater to the educational needs of the growing classes. The regular teachers, appointed by PSC of West Bengal joined in the year of 2019 , though one of them joined in the year of 2017 , he was released to pursue B. Ed.
Now with classes from 1 to 9 , this school is taking its baby steps towards holistic development of the students.
