History

Raghunathpur Girls’ High School is only the girls’ school of Raghunathpur Municipality, established in 1959. Respected Pravakar Chowdhury, the then headmaster of G.D Lang institute took the main initiative to establish a girls’ school at Raghunathpur, so the class II junior Raghunathpur  Girls’ School was started in the premises of G.D Lang Institution. Nibha Ganguly, Gita Bhattacharya and Shipra Chowdhury were only three teachers of the school. Later on Sadhana Chakraborty (Sarkar) became the first headmistress of the school.

Respected Bhubaneswar Dutta, Chandicharan Dutta, Krishnakanta Dutta and Sachin Dutta of Dutta family (munsefdanga, Raghunathpur) donated 1 acre land for the establishment of the school. In 1969 the building of the school was completed and the students started their education in that building.

            Gradually the school was upgraded as Junior High and High school. Bela Mallick, an able academician and great disciplinarian had a great contribution to develop the school. After that Nibha Ganguly and Rekha Bose took over the charges of the school and they tried their best to develop the school. In 1999 Raghunathpur Girls’ High school was upgraded as Higher Secondary school. In 2000 Mallika Sanyal became the Headmistress of this institution. She also tried her best for the development of the school. Kanyashree club was established in 2013.
