History

Mato High School was set up on December 1904 by  some  untiring efforts of a group of selfless persons  .A meeting was held one year advanced i.e.,1903 .Late Sri Annada Charan Majumder presided over the meeting and the resolution was taken about the establishment of the school , post office, and library .Annada Babu agreed to donate the land for school building . Late Sri Bijoy Krishna Hazra was agreed to initiate fund approximate Rs, 1000/- as loan . The first secretary Late Sri Upendranath Chakraborty once mortgaged his wifes ornaments to pay the due salaries of the teachers .This is the myth that is spread over this area.There were many stories of love ,assistance and co-operations accompanied with the history of this institution made by the other founder members like Late Sri Shital Chandra Sen Kabiraj , Late Sri Bhutnath Sen Kabiraj , Late Sri Saddhwi Charan Majumder , Late Sri Adhar Chandra Hazra , Late Sri Bhavataran Sen , Late Sri Makhanlal Chattopadhaya , Late Sri Krishna Sakha Chakraborty and others.

        But the story of the dedication of Late Sri Shital Chandra Sen Kobiraj is specially notable.He called on the meeting on December 27 th 1903 in the hall of Shakti Samity , the club which was founded by him. He had signed a personal bond to take loan from Late Sri Bijoykrishna Hazra for the necessary fund for the construction of school building and to purchase furniture.Inspite of failing to refund that amount  Late Sri Bijoykrishna was kind enough to let him free from the embarrassment and tore the debenture down in the presence of many other persons.

     Thus our school’s history is replete with such examples of sacrifices.
