                A Brief History

 of Siberhana High School (H.S)

A school is an educational institution designed to provide learning spaces and learning environments for the teaching of students (or "pupils") under the direction of teachers. It is not merely a structure, rather its a concrete reflection of a collective dream of some visionaries of an area who come together with a noble purpose of imparting education to their children. When it comes to Siberhana High School (H.S), it also has its share of history, in continuing the legacy of the visions of it's envisionaries. Today, Siberhana High School (H.S) could not have been a premier educational institution, had it not been envisioned by the philomaths like Dr. Bankim Bihari Das and some other like-minded noble souls. At that time there was no school on Amta- Panpur Road  in between Panpur Sashibhusan High School and Jadurberia High School. So, the students of this area had to face several hardships to go to school. Taking notice of this fact, and with a high mind to redress the issue, Dr. Bankim Bihari Das let an abandoned room of his house  to be used as a school room for class V and VI. Thus, the school was set up for the first time in the north-east side of the Kandua canal in the Hafezchalk mouza of the Amta block and this auspicious event took place in January in 1962. Dr. Bankim Bihari Das was the first nominated Secretary of the school and Shri. Subol Candra Patra became the first President. The history of the school will be incomplete if we do not take this opportunity to pay our respect to Shri. Ashish Kumar Maity, the first appointed Headmaster of the school along with the Assistant Teachers, Shri Paresh Maity and Shri Monoronjan Dinda. Thus Siberhana High School began its long journey of academic excellence guiding and nurturing the young minds with the elixir of education and wisdom. In the very next year, the school was upgraded to the VIII-th standard. As the news of the school catches waves and reaches far and wide, more and more students start coming to the school. When the school started facing accommodation problems, again some educational enthusiasts came together for the noble cause and donated 1.5 acre land adjacent to the existing compound in the year 1964. And in the following year, the school committee along with the help of the local people built five mud-thatched rooms. It is worth mentioning that the tireless efforts of the then teachers, committee members along with the support and cooperation of the then Honour'ble ex- MLA, Shri Abani Ghosh, Howrah DI of Schools granted the school the status of "Junior High School" in the year 1966. And again under the able leadership of the Headmaster, Shri Tapas Kumar Sil with the cooperation of the Committee members upgraded the school to the status of a "High School (10 + 2 level)" in 2009. It has been the dream of Shri Tapas Kumar Sil, to make the school a modern centre of learning and he left no stone unturned in fulfilling his vision - it is in his tenure as a Headmaster that the school has seen its greatest development, be it in terms of building construction or availing the students with modern day state-of-the-art educational and co-curricular facilities. He has steered the school with utmost wisdom and unyielding spirit and turned it into a pioneering centre of academic excellence.
