
Jogmaya Balika Vidyalaya was established on 1st January 1925 at Khalna, Howrah for the spread of women education. It was the first school for girls in the village. Sri Haradhan Hazra was the secretary of the then school. Sri Bishnupada Hazra was the Headmaster. Ramhrishi Ray and his wife, had donated their field for School. The name of the school Jogmaya Balika in the memory of his mother. He did everything for the betterment of the school. Sri Ratikanta Panja had taken his own resposibilities to establish the school. It had hostels then. Saraswati Nivas was made for teachers in the memory of his wife name. Many educated persons were the members of this school.The then President Sri Ratikanta Panja started to help by donating @Rs5/-monthly. The District Inspector of Howrah Smt Sarala Ghosh inaurgurated high school. It upgrated to Junior high in the yr 1945 on 1st January and it upgraded HighSchool(Class x) in the yr 1996. It had three blocks and two storeyed building. There was a small field inside the School. It has separate kitchen room with shed. Mid day meal prog. has been running since 2009. Now this School turned into Govt Sponsored School
