History
3rd February 1949 saw the genesis of Jagdishpur High School. The school started with only two classes, that is class 5 and class 6, with an aim to impart basic education for the children of Jagdishpur and it's adjacent areas. The school aims to instill thoughtfulness, humanity compassion and citizenship which will transform a student into an asset for the society. The institution earned acclaim over the years to become one of the the premier educational institution of Howrah due to the untiring dedication of late Neel Moni Bag and late Upendra Nath Biswas.
The journey ,taken since 1949, has been a magical one marked by splendid milestones. Soon, newer and bigger buildings were added so that it could bring more children into its fold . 1963 was an important year in the evolution of Jagdishpur High School, as in this year, it was upgraded to the secondary level.Eventually in the year 1999 the secondary school ,was transformed into higher secondary school for persistant excellent performance. Though ,at the onset only Humanities was offered to the students, letter in 2003, the streams of science and commerce where also introduced. It is affiliated to West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Rducation.
Besides imparting formal education ,we have recognised Vocational Education also. We believe that enrolling in vocational courses can help in developing professional skills of the students. For this purpose in the year 2006 we have introduced the vocational stream in our school. We offer students two courses one 8plus category and their one 10 plus category. These courses are affiliated to West Bengal state council of vocational education and training.
The seeds sown in 1949 where is cognitive and backed by the the inner strength of the staff members of the school which prompted instant excellent performances of the students. At present the strength of the school is around 1300. Today the name of the school shines like a beakon and has achieved laurels in almost every field. As emphasized by Swami Vivekananda
