The year was 1945. Independence was just around the corner. While the sun was shining brightly on the political horizon of India, the country was still struggling to emerge from the dark dungeons of illiteracy and superstitious conservatism. It was in such times, that the foundation stones of Belkulai Chandrakumar Adharchandra Vidypith were laid by the sincere and dedicated efforts of the successors of the two pioneer educationists of their times, viz. Lt. Babu Chandrakumar Dash and Lt. Babu Adharchandra Dash. Ever since its inception, this premier institute of learning has played a significant and illuminating role in the proliferation of scientific and secular education amongst the students, irrespective of their caste, class, religion and gender-based identities.
Belkulai Chandrakumar Adharchandra Vidyapith, located in Howrah District, is a renowned institute of learning, providing top-notch education with state-of-the-art facilities. With the noble intention of providing modern education and developing human resource facilities in the region, the then respected gentry of the area established the school on the first day of January, 1945, in the grandiose palace-like edifice where the school stands to this day. In the very same year, the honourable founders declared through a legal paper that the expenses of the school would be borne by the ‘SRI SRI LAKSHMI JANARDAN JIU THAKUR TRUST’ till the point that it would be taken over by the government. It is a matter of profound pride that as soon as 1947, the school earned its approval as a recognised educational institute by the Calcutta University. Later, on the foundation of The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, it was affiliated to its modules and courses. Subsequently, in the year 2002, the school was promoted to be a centre of higher education when it gained the approval of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education in inaugurating Arts and Science departments for the 10+2 level. The Commerce section was recently added in 2017.
The school, alongside serving as a perennial stream disseminating generic education, initiated its courses in vocational trades from July, 2007 after receiving official approval from the West Bengal State Council of Higher Education and Training. The school provides courses in 6 trades overall, including the XVIII+ Level and X+2 Level. The school, very soon, came to be recognised as a Centre of Excellence in the Howrah District.
Through the recommendations of the State Government and under the instructions of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, the Pilot Project of the National Vocational Educational Qualification Framework (NVEQF) was initiated on the school premises. It provides courses in two trades viz. Automobiles and Security Sectors for students from Class 9 to Post-Ph.D.
Moreover, as a recognised study centre under Paschimbanga Rabindramukta Vidyalaya Sangsad since 2013, the institution has played a pioneering role in arranging for regular classes for the drop-out students belonging to poor backgrounds, minority and Topshili communities, child-labourers and ICDS workers. Such candidates can appear for Madhyamik and Uchchya Madhyamik after attending such classes.
The ultimate aim of Belkulai C.K.A.C. Vidyapith has always been the holistic development of the child. Therefore, the institution provides the students with a wide-range of guided sports activities to choose from: Hockey, Cricket, Handball and so on. Moreover, the school maintains an active unit of the National Cadet Corps (N.C.C.).
