In 1970 the Martin Narrow gage Train Service from Amta to Howrah was abolished sorrow fully. In this situation, the students of Amta and the neighbouring (adjacent) areas & their guardians had to face severe difficulties to reach Howrah from here. They were confused, how to communicate with the teachers & Professors of the Howrah city! Therefore, the local people decided to set up a Junior High School (from class V to class VIII) in this village, Islampur. As a result, the educationists & the educated persons of the area strived hard contributing by ‘Cash & kind’ to establish the present school on 1st January in 1971. Initially, a two classes school (from class V to class VI) was organized by the interested persons of the village of the neighbouring areas. After three years continual service, the organisers applied (appealed) for recognition by the Government of West Bengal. Consequently, the Govt. recognized it in 1974 as a two-class school (Junior High Schools, V-VI). Naturally, after a long journey of ten years, this school was sanctioned another two classes up gradation (from classy V to class VIII) in 1984 by the Government of West Bengal. Again, in 2001, Our school was affiliated to the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and this school was recognized as a Secondary School [from class V to class X). After this, Islampur Adarsha Madhyamik Vidyalaya was upgraded and recognized as a Higher Secondary School (from class V to class XII) with having both Arts and Science Streams in 2013. The land of the School campus was donated by both Girija Bhushan Biswas & Raghunath Chattopadhyay, two landlords of educated persons of this village. Almost 1250 students here at present gladly.
