History

              Bhagabanpur Siddheswar High School (H.S.), a prestigious and renowned institution of shyampur I block, Howrah district was establised during the auspicious moment of india's freedom. All though this revelled educational institution got the official recognition from West Bengal Govt. in 1950, its actual journey strated on 3rd January, 1947 as Sashibhushan Minor English School. It was named so in the memory of late father of Mr. Debendranath Adak who donated the land for the school. Later the school was sifted to another land, donated by Mr. Prankrishna Jana. Then it was renamed as Bhagabanpur Junor High School.

               Some of the nobel and learned persons of Bhagabanpur and neighbouring villages helped the junir school to  get the official recognition  with there sincere and sustained efforts. They were respected Debendranath Adak, Aswini Kumar Mondal, Bhushan Chandra Ghorai, Bhupati Charan Kar, Bidhubhushan Kar, Prankrishna Jana, Surendranath Mula, Jatindranath Adak, Bhikari Charan Samanta, Dwibhuj Chandra Samanta, Joykrishna khatua, Sachindranath Khatua etc.

                In 1963 then the Managing Committee of the school initiated and effort to upgrade the school upto Madhyamik standard after the schkool had got immense popularity and success. In the next year the school authority started class IX then class X. Fortunately the Govt. upgraded the school from 1st January, 1966. Due to sincere effort of the teaching staff, the first batch of five student appeared in Madhyamik Examination in 1967 and it was a proud and memorable moment for the school as the result of the students were excellent.

                 Later, as a trustee of Lord Siddheswar ('Siddheswar Jiu'), Mr. Bhupati Charan Kar donated two acres of land of Lord Siddheswar and as per the condition, the word 'Siddheswar' was added to the name of the school. In 2005 the school was upgraded as a Higher Secondary School. Till now due to the tireless efforts of the Managing Committee, the teaching and non-teaching staff under leadership of Sri Tapas Kumar Acharyya, the Head Master, this institution continues its good work as a reputed educational institution.
